Heute drittes Highland Derby der Saison:

Ross County v Inverness CT

Defender Steven Watt is Ross County's only absentee as he begins a two-match suspension for the Highland derby.

The home side sit just two points off top spot but will be wary of the visitors' excellent away record.

Inverness boss Terry Butcher is set to stick with the same starting XI that brushed aside Morton 4-1 last Saturday.

Having thrashed Ayr United 5-1 the week before, free-scoring Inverness will be confident of making it three victories in a row.

County take the derby-day honours

Ross County won their second Highland derby of the season with a pulsating 2-1 defeat of Inverness at Victoria Park.

County took the lead in the 18th minute when Scott Morrison's rocket free kick cannoned in off the underside of the crossbar and Scott Boyd headed home the rebound.

The home side were 2-0 up a couple of minutes later when Morrison got down the left and his cross into the box was headed home by man-of-the-match Michael Gardyne.

Inverness almost got one back in the 57th minute when Richie Foran's shot was blocked on the line by Morrison.

They did pull one back seven minutes from the end when they were awarded a penalty kick. Richard Brittain fouled Adam Rooney in the box and although Rooney's spot kick was saved by Michael McGovern he knocked in the rebound.

MICHAEL Gardyne rubbed salt in Caley Thistle's derby wounds by thanking Ross Tokely and Richie Foran for supplying extra motivation for this victory. Gardyne - who capped an immense display with what proved the decisive second goal - credited the Inverness pair for playing a part in their own downfall.

Pre-match comments in a local newspaper from defender Tokely were interpreted as a slight on County's chances of continuing their bright start to the league campaign.

Similarly, Foran had enraged the Dingwall men with his words after Caley's 1-0 victory over them in the ALBA Cup semi-final.

Gardyne said: "We pinned up Tokely's comments in the dressing room.

"It was nice of him to do that - the gaffer didn't need a team talk.We just went out and showed them what we're all about.

"Foran also said after the cup game that there was only one team in the Highlands but I think we showed them we are more than capable of matching them.

"The gaffer asked us to play our normal game - just continue the way we have been going and keep passing it.

"Particularly in the first half-hour, we showed we can play."

Some of County's first-half play was outstanding with Gardyne's drive and trickery pivotal in a win that took the hosts five points above their neighbours.

Adams agrees new County contract

Ross County manager Derek Adams has signed a one-year contract extension with the First Division club.

Adams has been in charge of team affairs at Victoria Park for two years and the Dingwall side currently sit two points off top spot.

"The club has the now given me a budget for next season," revealed the former Aberdeen and Motherwell midfielder.

"And that allows me to attempt to secure the services of my coaching staff and players."

Schade, schade, schade...... :(

Spielbericht folgt.

Roberts the hero for 10-man Ayr

Ten-man Ayr battled to a 1-1 draw against Ross County thanks to Mark Roberts' penalty eight minutes from time.

High-flying County looked good for all three points when Scott Boyd rose to head home a corner from Richard Brittain in the 41st minute.

Ayr's cause looked lost when Ryan Stevenson was shown a straight red card after an hour for a rash tackle on Alex Keddie.

But Brian Reid's men refused to lie down and Billy Gibson had a goal-bound header scrambled off the line.

The pressure paid off when substitute Ally Woodburn, on for new signing Junior Mendes, was chopped down by Keddie for a penalty which Roberts slammed home to lift Ayr one point clear of Airdrie at the foot of the table.

County player search under way

adams plans to add to squad in the january window
Published: 19/11/2009

ROSS County manager Derek Adams plans to make at least one addition to his first-team squad when the January transfer window opens.

The Dingwall club trimmed its ranks in the summer and has operated with just 19 squad members in total this term.

It has not prevented County from advancing to the upper half of the league and they sit two points adrift of First Division leaders Queen of the South and Dundee.

Adams had his playing budget for next season established by the club’s board of directors last week and is already scouring the market for potential new recruits.

He said: “The budget is similar to the one I had last year, so there won’t be a hive of activity.

“I can probably take in one new player in January, with Stuart Golabek and John Stewart leaving I have one position to fill.

“I have players in mind, but it all depends on who is available in January.”
