Morton could be renting their stadium from next summer
Greenock Morton have rejected a more financially lucrative takeover bid and plan instead to write off a £2m-plus debt and become a community-owned club.
But their Cappielow Park stadium will remain owned by current chairman Crawford Rae's Golden Casket company and then rented back to the club.
The club will be sold to the Morton Club Together group for "a nominal sum" if it can prove viability by March.

Greenock Morton Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Gus MacPherson as First Team Manager until the end of the season.
MacPherson will take up the role immediately and will lead his first training session with the squad tomorrow morning in preparation for Saturday’s game against Dunfermline.
Having managed in every tier of the Scottish game, Gus brings significant experience to the role, having managed at St Mirren, Queen of the South and Queens Park.
We are also pleased to announce that Andy Millen will join the club as Assistant Manager. Having worked in similar roles at St Mirren, Hamilton, Queen of the South, Ayr, and most recently, Kilmarnock, Andy will also bring valuable experience to the coaching team.

Mark Russell returns to Morton

Greenock Morton Football Club are delighted to announce that Mark Russell has today signed a one-year contract, subject to international clearance.
Youth academy product Mark joined our Under-17s squad in 2012 and made his first team debut in November 2013 as a substitute against Dumbarton before slowly becoming a first team regular in the 2014/15 season.
The 25-year-old scored 4 goals in 153 appearances before departing for Falkirk in the summer of 2018.
After spending only seven months at the Bairns, he moved to League of Ireland Premier Division side Finn Harps where he spent two seasons.

The 28-year-old frontman spent last term with fellow cinch Championship outfit Raith Rovers, scoring 4 goals in 11 starts and 8 substitute appearances in all competitions.
