Carlos Salcedo leaves Toronto FC after just 13 games - Frees up Designated Player spot
Major League Soccer side Toronto FC and Carlos Salcedo have mutually agreed to terminate their contract effective as of Jul. 15, 2022. The Mexican is set to return to Mexico to deal with a family matter. The mutual termination frees up a Designated Player (DP) spot for Toronto.
“We’d like to thank Carlos for his efforts during a difficult time,” Toronto FC President Bill Manning said in a club statement. “In the end, Carlos felt it was most important to return to Mexico to be with his wife and children. We fully support Carlos’ decision and wish him the best in the future.”
Salcedo joined Toronto FC ahead of the season from Liga MX side Tigres UANL in a player swap deal for Yeferson Soteldo. Salcedo has played 15 games (no goals) for the Reds. The contract termination means that TFC now have two DP slots available.
